This happens on my laptop too. I am on an Acer Aspire 6930-6942, latest
updates and stock kernel on AMD64 Maverick. If I run the command above,
then the battery will show up, and I can see percentage, time left, etc.

I couldn't get it to crash again, but I did notice that there were many
CRC errors and there was information in the Valgrind logs, so I've
uploaded them anyways. Hope it helps.

Alright, I'll be sure to try it once I get access to my main machine
tonight. I'm not completely sure of how to reproduce it, but I'll try
to make it happen again. I believe this happened once under Edgy in a

I had Firefox, GAIM, Nautilus, Terminal, apt-get(upgrading packages),
Xchat and Totem running(playing a .mpg file). Then I get message that
Gnome-panel crashed and Xchat(which is usually in the tray) has a little
