I can't reproduce it in Hardy Alpha 4 because the ui changed. Under the
"On Battery Power" the above mentioned label is gone. There are some
other options instead, but I am not sure if they are relevant to this
bug or not. They don't seem to correspond to the mentioned label in "On
AC Power".

I can confirm this. With Hardy Alpha2, the extra desktop effects is
broken. Windows have no decorations and no title bar, they can't be
moved nor resized. Basically, this mode is now useless.

I tried it on Hardy Heron Alpha2 and it seems to be working fine. There were a
couple of problems but I don't know if they are related to this bug:

The UI for brightness control (the slider) in inconsistent. In the tab "On AC
Power" its label is "Set display brightness to:", and 0% means very dim and
100% means very bright.
The problem is that in the tab "On Battery Power", the
workaround found:
open ccsm, go to Preferences, and if gconf is selected as a back-end, then make
sure that the checkbox "Enable integration into the desktop environment" is
unchecked.
Now you change change the bindings.

I experience exactly the same. Can't change the resize binding to
Button3. In this case and many other, ccsm completely ignores my
request, and also somehow changes the binding to button1, thus forcing
me to use the keyboard to be able to restore the settings.
I think the issue with button1 should

the console resolution, by adding vga=791 to the boot configuration in
