Micah, First install (that didn't work quite right) was in this method: Insert Cd with iso file image, reboot computer, select to boot from CD, follow command line script and install along side WinXP.  On second install (today), I booted into WinXp, inserted CD and let install run inside WinXp.

Ben, I'll give it a try.  Right now I am working on deleting the 2 Ubuntu partitions that were made on the WinXP machine when I reinstalled 9.04. On a 3rd install I don't want a 3rd 2 Gb partion on a 40 Gb drive. I'm letting XP install service pack 3 (this has taken a lot longer than I anticipat

Just wanted to echo that I've had this problem as well, using the Glossy theme. Further, and I don't know if this is related, I've had a similar problem occur in Nautilus, where right-clicks sometimes activate one of the menu items immediately, sometimes even before the menu has completely appeare
