Had the same problem with shared memory issues. Noticed that postgresql
would start from the command line after boot. Couldn't get sleep to
work in the init script so fixed it this way instead (as root):
export EDITOR=nano
crontab -e
Added this the end of the file:
@reboot /etc/init.d/postgresq
