I seem to have the same problem on Ubuntu 17.10,
firefox-57.0.4+build1-0ubuntu0.17.10.1. I get random crashes about twice
a day. The crash is usually accompaigned by a gnome-shell crash &
restart. I observe no suspicios activity such as eating up too much RAM
or a high CPU usage before the crash.
Public bug reported:
All my postgres databases disappeared after doing an update (after a
long time away from that particular machine).
I first noticed something was off when my Trac installation couldn't
connect tot he database. Then I found out the database port changed from

Public bug reported:
I have gone through a lenghty update from 10.10 to 12.04. The computer
is a laptop with Intel i915 graphics. It is connected to a TV set via
S-Video cable. I want a mirror display setup, which used to work fine in
10.10.

I can't reproduce it anymore (10.04), seems it has gone away in Karmic.

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
I'm running Karmic on a laptop. When I'm running on battery and connect
the AC cord, the laptop suspends. It suspedns also when on AC and I
disconnect the power cord. This didn't happen in Jaunty or earlier.

I have this problem on a 2005 laptop. USB 2.0 worked fine for several
years, but today I noticed it doesn't work in Karmic:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0b05:173f ASUSTek Computer, Inc.

I still have the problem with recent Jaunty build (23rd March). Booting
with i915 video card gives me 4 blinks and the autologin doesn't work.
After switching to nVidia (and reconfiguring X), autologin works. I can
provide more information, logs, whatever on request.

This seems to be caused by the xorg intel video driver. I experience the
bug on a laptop with two video cards: one is an Intel i915 and the other
is nVidia 6600GT. If I start the laptop with nVidia switched on, the
autologin works as expected. If I boot it with the internal i915, the

I do have the problem in freshly installed Intrepid. Autologin used to
work for me in Hardy and Gutsy on this machine.
Autologin does not work after boot. GDM acts as if no autologin was configured
- it asks for a username and password.
If I restart gdm using the initscript, the autologin works.
With help from oskar- on IRC, I solved my issue following these steps:
reboot from LiveCD, mount the partitions to /mnt/ubuntu/...
download the libc6 package
run "dpkg --root=/mnt/ubuntu -i libc.deb"
chroot into /mnt/ubuntu
run:
aptitude clean
aptitude update
aptitude upgrade

I updated a system from 8.04 (wtih current patches) to 8.10. During the
update process, I was greeted with dozens of dpkg errors, most of them
telling me that some package post-install script returned an error
status (a lot of core packages like xorg had similar errors). First
