Can confirm that problem does not occur with Ubuntu-3.2.0-24.37. No
workarounds needed, operation as normal after upgrading to
Ubuntu-3.2.0-24.37.

kernel panic with ubuntu 12.04 insta
I was able to install using the alternate installer. However I am not
able to boot post install. You will probably notice the same, not being
able to boot post install with the same error message.
It is interesting though that so ar all affected systems have been Dell
Studio XPS 13.

Ran into the same issue trying a fresh install of 12.04 from a USB startup
disk. Screenshot attached.
