I can confirm that the solution Florian posted (modifying
/lib/udev/rules.d/97-hid2hci.rules) works for me as well.
Dell Latitude E6500, Kubuntu 18.04 with hwe kernel (4.18.0-13-generic),

I am experiencing this exact problem on an nVidia Quadro 160M, latest
binary nvidia driver, latest version of vte and both xfce terminal and
gnome-terminal (in Gentoo).
Did this get reported to gnome.org, already, and if so, can somebody
link to it? Do we know what application this should be filed
