I just installed the firefox-dbg package but have not been able to reproduce
this exact problem as it was on the RC build and while installing packages.
I was once able to reproduce a similar issue where firefox started hanging
and subsequently crashed(appears due to lack of resources) on t

applied the 8 package updates on 10/8 and firefox was slow to come up
from taskbar - just gave the header with no body of the browser. it then
crashed.
