I compiled libxine 1.1.4 from source and got the same thing, so it seems
like the bug is in libxine itself and not a bug introduced in the Ubuntu
package.

I tried installing xine-lib from feisty, but get the exact same thing.
I'm going to try reinstalling with an actual edgy CD rather than
upgrading from my dapper CD just to make sure it's just not something
wrong with my installation.

I've had the same problem with hard lock-ups using the "ati" driver with
a Radeon 9700pro on a clean install of dapper. It still froze up when I
upgraded to edgy, no difference. The system completely locks up. Nothing
ever appears in the logs, but the freezing is consistent. When I
switched from th
