No, I think there are no specific steps to make this bug appear.
Actually, it happened to me only once. I decided to report it, though.
Is there anything I can do to help fixing this problem?

Public bug reported:
After opening notebook's lid and returing from display suspension (not
system sleep) my screen got corrupted and unusable. I attach the photo
of how did it look. I was able to move pointer, use keyboard and unlock
PC "blindly", but the screen looked exactly the same as before

As for now I didn't manage to reproduce this bug on the upstream kernel, I'm
not 100% sure it isn't affected though.
After going back to 3.8 got a wakeup freeze again. I think it's somehow related
to connecting USB mobile broadband modem during sleep.

Public bug reported:
It happened to me twice in the last few days. Sometimes when I open
laptop's lid some time after locking the screen, the gnome-screensaver
unlock dialog is missing, or even the screen is completely blank - I can
only see a cursor. All apps are working, I can hear their sounds.

Public bug reported:
This happens occasionally, but is extremely annoying. Sometimes when I

Update: nothing changed, bug is still present. Maybe it's i915-driver-
specific and that's why you cannot reproduce it?

Yes, I do have an Optimus notebook. I use Intel videocard, while NVIDIA
is just turned off for the most of the time (I use Bumblebee for
switching). I don't really thinks it's related.
I'm gonna check out soon if the bug still affects me with the newest
version of Compiz.
