ubuarchive (and the others as well) sets a trap to clean up its lockfile
on exit.
It then checks for an existing sync process, and if it finds one logs an error
and then calls "exit 1".
It looks to me like the exit trap will run in this case, and remove the lock
file anyw
I wasn't trying to use DNS names in the name of the kickstart server
before the problems mentioned above were fixed, but I just tried doing
that now and it works for me.

Yes, I do still see the same problem with the current kernel and initrd.
I also tried creating a VM here and pxe-booting it. I do see the same
problem in the new VM.
The relevant portions of the dhcpd.conf for the new VM are as follows.
The dhcp server is an old CentOS box.

Yes, I have a PXE & DHCP server serving out the netboot kernel and
initrd.gz file, as copied from the mirrors in ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main
/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/ubuntu-installer/amd64/.
I created a stripped down kickstart file to demonstrate, and will attach
the kickstart config

dhcp request to fetch the pxe boot image succeeds, as does the second before
fetching a kickstart file.
The third and final time, however, fails with the client rejecting the lease
with a DHCP

The current version (1.5.1) doesn't seem to parse authurls properly for using
against a local swift installation.
A more recently built version installed from git (1.7.9.2) works fine.

I see the exact same behavior. Should /dev have its own partition? I
tried a few bind mounts from the shell and all the ones I tried returned
EINVAL when the source was under /, and worked if they were elsewhere.

I'm trying out installing an oneiric prerelease on a machine that has a
few local disks and is also currently attached to an empty disk array.
Grub-installer has a few problems in this setup:
- The first is that it doesn't work with device names that overflow past a
