The notification area icon for google desktop displays with a white background.
Similar problems/bugs have been noted for numerous other applications --
firestarter, pidgin, vlc -- and some of these problems have been present for
ages. In the case of google desktop, I belie
on Ubuntu Lucid (all updates applied) with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140m
Booting seems to take longer in 10.04 than it did in 9.10...but it may just be
more flickery and in worse resolution. I've tried and undone every work around
I can find. Would be great if a proper fix was released for this soon.

Boot is a mess of blinking cursors and a flickering splash in the wrong
resolution.
I've tried every workaround I can find and have undone them all and
nothing works...frustrating.

i have been meaning to ask about this for years. this is among the most
annoying failures of ubuntu desktop. what it needs is an invisible
border surrounding the visible border that is grab-able, but that
doesn't screw up the cleanness of the themes effected by this issue...if
that makes sense. ca
i have a thinkpad t61, running 9.10 and this is still an issue. it's
really annoying. the fix involves adding processor.max_cstate=2 to grub
configuration. the fix, for me, seems to bring up other issues though,
including the obvious issue of power management. short answer is that it
is still a bug

Confirm this bug on Thinkpad T61 (T7300 2.0Ghz, 3GB Ram,160G Sata,1 GB Turbo
memory,Nvidia 140m 128M), running Ubuntu 7.10.
Seems to effect both Firefox (2.0.0.11) and Opera (9.25) for me. No problem
with emerald turned off.
It's terrible annoying!
