Duplex is on (and the default at the printer), though I can't seem to
force it off from the command line (I'm not the first: bug 47263). With
the BR-Script3 PPD, it does the right thing from the command line with
duplex on (i.e., Collate=False, 3 page document is
1-2-1-2-3-blank-3-blank, Collate=T
This behaves fine with the BR-Script3 PPD, also with the footmatic PPD
with the one exception that the foomatic PPD insists on collating even
if you do "-o Collate=False." This is not a change in behavior, it does
that with 2ubuntu4 as well.

Unfortunately, I get no copies with this cpdftocps. The following ends
up in the PostScript that gets sent to the printer:

Built and tried upstream ghostscript 8.62 and 8.63. No problem with the
postscript file using 8.62, crashes in the same way with 8.63. I guess
I'll convert it to a ghostscript bug, though I suppose it is possible
that ghostscript just got fussier about invalid PostScript...

I had no problems under hardy (looks like it used gs 8.61), it's
intrepid (gs 8.63) that is giving me trouble. I'm assuming you tested
the attached postscript ("Postscript produced by dvips") directly with
ghostscript (as opposed to running the LaTeX example).

graphicx-psmin is a latex package for reducing file sizes when you have
a repetitive graphic appearing on every page. However, with intrepid,
running ghostscript on the postscript produced with dvips from a
document including a particular eps file (attached) produces an error
I'm attaching the debdiff, but I really wouldn't recommend this be
released. It's a hack, cleaning up the mess that usplash left. Really
we should prevent usplash from leaving a mess in the first place,
because it may not only be scribbling on the palette registers.

There are actually two Brother HL-5250DN printers options: one is
labeled HL-5250DN, the other is labeled HL-5250DN BR-Script3. The
former is a foomatic-generated PPD, and has the line "*cupsManualCopies:

into cpdftocps by using some of the printer's emulations, and no luck
(or luck, depending on what you're looking for): when asking for 2

NumCopies in the dictionary fed to setpagedevice. Only pstops (called
from cpdftocps, the last filter in the chain in my case) is capable of

Unfortunately this fix seems to prevent my printer from printing
multiple copies. Brother HL-5250DN.
lp -n 2 test.ps
prints a single copy. Editing /usr/lib/cups/filter/cpdftocps and
putting back the "$4" gets me multiple copies again.

Good question, I don't know (unfortunately the .xsession-errors from the
session where it died is gone). It never occurred to me to check since
I've always assumed it was some tricky job control race in bash. I will
check next time and post here.
