10_linux_zfs did not create a bootable entry in grub.cfg.
I found that the issue was that somehow the bootlist was displaying tab
(\t) characters and the script was not able to detect the entries. I
changed the last 'echo' to 'echo -e' and then it worked again:

Yes, the SATA controller on that old Xeon box is a little strange and has been
so for at least 4 years.
This never affected the Gnome desktop before.
I installed lightdm as a workaround and it comes up okay.

I plug my AC adapter into my laptop, and it freezes again.
I took a picture of my phone's output before the laptop froze completely.

I have updated the report.
I believe it is the 'acpi' package.
I run 'sudo journalctl -f | grep 'acpi'. this is the output:

I have Kubuntu 24.04, which freezes randomly when I plug my AC charger into my
laptop.

Here in my laptop information:

I was able to narrow the issue down to a bibtex entry with over 1000 co-authors:

Running bibtex is slow, but does finish.

Night light and screen brightness seem to reset after suspend.
Night light button in top-bar menu panel fails to enable/disable nightlight on
toggle.
Night light only responds when through Settings > Screen Display > Night light,
and moving the slider.
Monitor brightness is
