If ARM GNU/Linux does not support getcontext/setcontext, then this
particular configure test is not particularly relevant, since the
library isn't going to work anyhow. I suppose the error message could
be more clear but it's going to boil down to a compilation or runtime
error regardless.

Does this problem still occur? I can't recreate it on Ubuntu Lucid.
There have been some patches which may affect this, notably the fix for
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=47248 which has a similar
symptom.

The problem is that the libc is using STT_GNU_IFUNC symbols. In order
to get a version of gold with STT_GNU_IFUNC support, Ubuntu needs to use
gold version 100820 or newer. The gold in the GNU binutils 2.21 release
should work fine.
