After trying changing all elevator options, and many suggestions out
there, I've checked irqbalance. In /etc/default/irqbalance, I've changed
in my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit notebook, ENABLED from 0 to 1, as follows:
root@XXX4:/etc/default# cat irqbalance
#Configuration for the irqbalance daemon

For me it occurs with a 8 GB plain swap file in my 4GB notebok from the
beginning since Ubuntu 10.04 until 12.04 LTS 64-bit with
3.2.0-27-generic kernel. It's incredible!
