I have the same problem, starting cups gives the following error :
# /etc/init.d/cups start

I made an error in my last comment about spamc, the way evolution calls
spamc (-c) also denotes errors with exitcodes of 64 or larger, not just
bigger than 1.
I adjusted the patch, but I forgot to update my comment. My apologies

I have looked into this bug, and I have found the following problem:
plugins/sa-junk-plugin/em-junk-filter.c starts spamc through
pipe_to_sa_full(). This function starts the various client programs and
checks the exit status of the command that was run.

sudo touch /usr/share/icons/loclor/index.theme and then running apt-get
-f install
This is a workaround and will probably result in loss of the locolor

I have just checked this crash at a friends place, and, it does not
happen on his computer.
I am starting to thing it is hardware specific (this is an r300 based
system) I will investigate on my hardware with the vesa driver.

well, I have been looking around some more, and currently I have not
gotten much further, but I do have a backtrace with full debug output
(note I reverted system-libc.diff)

issue (I thought that perhaps some libs changed since building it for
edgy, and some updates later)

to gaim, pasting to an application that supports formatted text crashes
openoffice.org writer, pasting from OOo2 to gedit or xterm or any other
non-formatted program will work, pasting to gaim or abiword will crash
openoffice.
