when i posted the problem i was running Hardy that was updated from the
beta release.i have since made a clean install which did not have the
problem.thanks alot anyhow.

when i enable ufw it gives a message that it is loaded,but on rebooting the
status is given as "not loaded".
running
$ lsmod|grep ipv6 gives
ipv6 267780 18
and
$ cat /etc/ufw/ufw.conf
# /etc/ufw/ufw.conf
#
# set to yes to start on boot
ENABLED=yes
$ ufw version
ufw 0.16.2

the error comes automatically during startup,first there is a message
about doing a disk check,after the disk check(which does not complete to
100%),the errors surfaces.this takes me to [EMAIL PROTECTED],where upon
inputting start X command,the same error
