If anyone wants to disable this change (as Andrew mentioned), here are
the details: open gconf-editor and browse to /apps/update-manager, then
uncheck "summary_before_name".

I'm running the 2.6.27-10 intrepid-proposed image on my Toshiba Portege M200,
and it works perfectly. :)
The brightness keys are fixed entirely.
