I should have noted using all up to date software. As stated, I have
appropriate resources provisioned. Swapping to a different protocol
seems to integrate less optimally (not adjusting screen size, etc) so
it's less desirable.
I'll try to dig for logs.

It appears that increasing the graphical ram in the Video QXL device may
have helped, due to the nature of the issue it's hard to say for sure
