If you don't want to enable the proposed-updates repository, and would
prefer to install updated the packages manually, this method worked for
me and my GeForce 4 Ti 4200:
1. Download and install the new jockey packages.

Installing the "python-numeric" package resolves the problem.
This suggests two bugs in the gcompris package:
(1) gcompris is missing a dependency upon python-numeric
(2) python-numeric is marked as deprecated in favour of python-numpy, so
presumably gcompris should be updated accordingly

If I understand correctly, a missing dependency is trivial to fix, so I
think it should be feasible to fix this in jaunty-updates and also in
karmic.
The latter issue (updating to python-numpy) would obviously require much
more effort and should likely be addressed separately.
