I updated the software and re-booted. Still at full screen.
Now all I have to do is get Ubuntu set up again!
edids.bin was still empty.

Wayland versions done. Again, the edids.bin would not attach as it was
empty.
I have already made various changes to the display under Wayland. All
successful, although only in top half of the screen.

BIOS Update was done under Windows/HP Tools before I installed Ubuntu.
xrandrv.txt is attached. edids.bin would not attach, as it was empty.
I tried various display settings, which all worked, but within the top half
of the screen.

I rebooted and used Ubuntu (safe graphics), and all was well.
The resolution only has one option - 1024 x 768.

I am back in Win10 right now, which also became affected by the "hazy bottom
half" of the display, although the full screen displayed behind the haze (just
hard to read).
Will need to try booting again from the stick, to see the option for
Wayland.
