Hi,
I enabled the proposed updates, updated unity (only), did "unity --replace" and
it seems to be corrected.
Thanks !
(just to confirm : "unity --version" is correct, 5.16)

If it may help, I use Alt+F2 and "unity --replace" every time I restart and it
seems to work. It's faster than going back to CCSM.
By the way, disabling the "Launcher capture mouse" didn't have any effect here.

Well this problem is quite old : it became obvious with Ubuntu 10.10 (I
couldn't even start a live-CD or USB) until now.
But I also had an issue with Ubuntu 10.04 : the use of compiz (by enabling the
3D effects) used to create random freezes. The workaround to these freezes was
to install "compi

Dear all,
We finally found a workaround : the grub option "pci=noacpi" allows to boot
using intel driver !
I however have no idea to explain why it works...
Here is the link that helped us :

Dear all,
Sorry for the double post : I'm not used to this damned mac keyboard !
As I was saying, I had already tried to add the "HorizSync" and "VertRefresh"
options in xorg.conf and it didn't change anything.
I also installed "mesa-utils" (after installing Ubuntu 11.10 because I didn't

Natty&Oneiric - intel
Hi,
I already changed the title of this bug : same problem with Oneiric, except
that Unity 3D works, but still with the vesa driver and not with intel,
resulting in poor video settings (bad ratio aspect, "unknown" screen, desktop
spreading out of the screen).
I'm still forced to use ubuntu 10.04

Hi,
On Ubuntu 11.10, the problem is almost the same.
The only difference is that now Unity 3D works with the vesa driver. Great
thing !
Nevertheless the resolution is still incorrect and the screen is still
"unknown".
I'm still forced to use Ubuntu 10.04 ! :)

Public bug reported:
Hi,
When booting on a Natty live-USB on my computer, a gnome-panel like desktop is
loaded instead of Unity.
It seems to be related to a problem with the intel graphics driver : the
Xorg.0.log tells "(EE)open /dev/fb0 No such file or directory" and then the
vesa driver is us
