I have committed a fix for this that should solve the problem of
StackApplet crashing when a notification comes in. You should see an
update for StackApplet within a day or two containing the fix (if you've
installed it from the PPA).

I don't think StackApplet is using gnome-python-desktop at all. Perhaps
the dependency was carried over from back when StackApplet was a Gnome
panel applet. (It now uses the AppIndicator framework and messaging
menu.) I am currently trying to get StackApplet 1.5 ready for Oneiric
soon - the first r

I just discovered this when I tried to compile a C++ application with
g++ - only to discover that g++ was missing. This is very serious and
prevents any kind of development targetting Win64.
