Which ones? GLib's? I installed evolution-dbg to take the backtrace, but
didn't know what else to install, as the script in the wiki didn't
return anything.
Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to get anything further now, as I
can't reproduce the bug after having used Thunderbird.

e-mail client and then reverting it to Evolution.

I can't reproduce this bug anymore in Hardy.
With the same locale and Hardy's versions of the same packages, Gnumeric
doesn't crash on start and doesn't print any messages to the console.

I can confirm this bug.
I couldn't get Firestarter to work and I got the same message in the console.
After adding
"export LC_ALL=C" to firestarter.sh as rmorales said, the problem disappeared.

Well, I can't say much more. The package failed to install during the upgrade
from feisty to gutsy.
The 'terminal' which appears on the upgrade dialog says this:

I can't find it either. In the gnome-font-properties dialog I see
LMRoman10 (small caps), LMSans10, LMSansQuotation8 , LMTypewriter10 and
