I'm well aware of the range, that's not a problem. The problem is that
this setup worked perfectly from January until June, which is when I
went on vacation and installed 9.04. I did however not touch my home
directory - any .gnome/ directories or gconf settings you want me to

I put the MAC address of my adapter in .asoundrc as outlined above.

I've been using a SonyEricsson headset since Ubuntu 7.10 to play music at work
(from a ThinkPad T61) - it's been a great experience and a pleasure to listen
to music using that headset.
This christmas I got (myself actually) an Acer Aspire One 110
I can confirm this too (the regression). My better half uses this quite a lot
to save images of our kids and this regression is keeping us from updating her
laptop to Jaunty (will try the workaround now though).
We use two sets of Bluetooth adapters (I only have access to one where I'm now)

This is a workaround that I've been using for quite some time (since Ubuntu
8.04 at least):
Edit the .asoundrc file as described above. (Use hciconfig to get the MAC
address if you don't know it.)
Then run
gconftool -t string -s /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/musicaudiosink

I can confirm that Shift+Alt+ doesn't work with 8.04 (LTS). In my
everyday work this prevents me from using all refactor commands in Eclipse
(such as rename, shift-alt-r) and all quick execution (shift-alt-x, t to run
unit tests).
Alt+ works.
Shift+ works.
Ctrl+Shift+ works.

Just installed xubuntu on a rather old Compaq Armada 110 (laptop) and it works
pretty well (with 512 MB RAM) except that when X starts, the computer kind of
stalls.

Daniel: I'd say you are partly wrong since I have gotten black-and-white
working (see comment 23). I tested that on two different TVs with the
same result: -i810 gives colour and is all well, -intel was black-and-
white. I don't have the hardware any longer (got a new one changing jobs
which doesn'
The new -intel driver (the old one is -i810) has support for TV-out on
60 Hz TVs. Can't find the bug/thread where I read that, but all 50 Hz is
basically left with two options: using an old -i810 or buying a new TV.

@Emil Sit: According to XStrikeForce[0] xrandr1.2 can't handle good old multi
display setups (non-Xinerama style), which is very unfortunate and brings us
back to a Windows-alike level of usability again (where there's one desktop and
it spans all outputs - if you change the workspace of the rig

I had similar problems on my T61 (things worked under Gutsy but not with

Downloaded alsa-driver source from alsa-project, compiled and installed
(hgcompile && make install) and it now works with one bug which is
described elsewhere (the master volume is slowly increased to maximum
from whatever level you set it to, so we use PCM to control volume
level).

No sound -
TV works with colours if I run i810. With the same xorg.conf file
(except for the Driver instructions) using intel, the output is
