ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:957:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports only

This also affects Ubuntu Natty in my case - IceWm alone runs fine but
IceWm-session crashes...UNLESS it is the first WM run in a boot, then it
runs fine. Yes, it's weird. The problem seems to be with Icewmbg.

When list view is enabled, Nautilus takes a long time (7-10 sec) to load a
directory...even those relatively small (100 sub-directories..maybe 20 files).
Changing to icon view makes things go a little faster,,maybe loading the same
directory
New version of xserver-xorg-video-intel fixes the problem.

In my EOG, run from the Gnome menu,after I open a jpg, ctrl-F9 (open
side pane) is not grayed out, as though it should work, that's the
reason I filed this bug. If it's not supposed to work, I think it should
be grayed out.

Checking out your theory I moved menu.lst out of the way. Re-ran update-grub
with /etc/default/grub set to generate UUID's. That grub.cfg is OK for
Lucid...but refers to /dev/hda2 as sda2. No UUID's . That leaves the Debian
boot hanging " waiting for root file system". I have never been able to
By the way, I am being told on the forums that update-grub can be
confused by reading an old menu.lst from legacy-grub on hda2? Is this
possible ?

Well, it appears you're right. Sorry. Quoted or not it generates the
same file. I have uploaded 7 files , grub.cfg and default/grub original,
grub.cfg + default/grub unquoted, and grub.cfg +default/grub quoted. I
don't know how I got it to generate a grub.cfg without UUID, but it
appears it sure wa

On the initial installation of Luid, Grub found Debian Squeeze on another
partition, but used UUIDs in it's
grub.cfg. Debian would not boot. I uncommented the appropriate line in

This morning Grub(2) was updated by update-manager. Afterwards I found my
Debian Squeeze installation on hda2 would not boot. I looked at grub.cfg,
and found the new grub had changed references to hda2 (or sda2 in Ubuntu-talk)
