Confirmed in 64-bit Kubuntu with Firefox 3.6.10.
No file open/save dialog ever appears. But it works, when evoked by shortcut.
For example: pressing File->Save Page As... (by cursor) does nothing. But
pressing Ctrl+S opens dialog. kmozillahelper is not
installed. I had the same problem with Kub

The same problem with my Dell XPS m1530. Uninstalling Pulseaudio makes
Alsamixer show it's volume bar at settings and
microphone is working properly. I tried Ubuntu 10.04 and Kubuntu 10.10.
Both suffer from this problem.
