It seems 16.10 and 17.04 are still affected by this problem. Don't know
about 17.10 as I haven't been able to make it work properly under
LXC/LXD with Juju.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. Seems to be something weird
with cloud-init that hasn't been fixed in 16.04.3 LTS.

I let the machine sit for a couple of minutes or so, until the CPU fan
became completely crazy. I can try a little bit longer, but in any case,
this is an issue: you can't really expect the system to sit there
chewing CPU during boot during apparently nothing :)

Karmic Alpha 1 hangs after prob
I tried and it doesn't make any difference. Perhaps, it's because my
machine has a built-in CF reader. These are the last lines logged during
boot before the system hangs and starts chewing CPU:

After upgrading Kubuntu Jaunty to Karmic Alpha 1, the system no longer
boot and hungs just after probing the storage devices. The last lines
shown on the screen before the system hangs are:

Any update on this? This is a very annoying bug which, for a typical
Linux user, will require to disable or remove AppArmor.

kmix-kde4 is Hardy Heron doesn't register any keyboard shortcut (i.e. to
control volume, mute the sound, etc.). Running kmix-kde4 makes it appear
on the system tray, but navigating to System Settings -> Keyboard &
Mouse -> Keyboard Shor
Unfortunately, the asterisk-core-sounds-es-gsm-current.tar.gz tar file
that can be downloaded from the Asterisk web site is, honestly,
horrible. The speech denotes a very hard North American accent (probably
someone from California), which is not very nice for a native speaker
like me.

Also, even an easier fix is to untar the latest asterisk-core-sounds-es-
gsm-current.tar.gz file that can be downloaded from
http://www.asterisk.org. The most recent file has digits/and.gsm and
digits/afternoon.gsm.
