under KDE4,
for this bug, I can only reproduce it with the propriatary driver since I can
enable effects only with fglrx (with openGL rendering)
(but I think I remember I could reproduced it with free driver and desktop
effects with Xrender, but it would be good thing to check this)

Sorry, I was not at home.
And I have exactly the same problem than Joseph. The
unminimizing/maximizing/unmaximizing and the opening of a new window
make the total system stops for a little time.

Since the new version of ubuntu/kubuntu (9.04 jaunty) a new bug occurs with ATI
cards and desktop effects enabled.
The unminimizing of windows is really slow ... it takes from 1 to 3 seconds.
All other effects seem to be ok.
This bug is under both gnome and kde (4.2.1)
