I just tried to reproduce the bug on an install of feisty and did not
see it. When I open the second file gedit received focus. I am not
running compiz on this install.

This does not appear to be a bug with the irssi client. The same
behavior is seen in other clients as well. The clients do not take into
consideration the limit of 512 characters in irc. There is a plugin for
irssi that can add a feature to split the line to allow the full text to
be pasted.

After further testing it appears that Xchat chops long lines into
multiple smaller lines and then pastes them. This seems to be a feature
of Xchat to account for a limitation on the length of lines in irc (at
least on irc.freenode.net) to 512 characters. Gaim, irssi, and
ircatwork.com all appear to
It appears that this issue is not just with irssi. It has been tested
with gaim (on Dapper) with the same results. The lines get truncated.
Xchat (on Feisty) however can past long lines and be seen in irssi and
gaim but not the other way around.
