the command 'dpkg -L magnus' shows that magnus package contains an
autostart entry (/etc/xdg/autostart/magnus-autostart.desktop) and is
hence launched each time someone logs in as long as the package is
installed (which is annoying if you do not need it on a daily basis).

Well, the purpose of the initramfs script is not only to decrypt rootfs
but also to decrypt an encrypted swap (which is necessary because you
might wanna resume from suspend-to-disk).
