That's great news, thank you! At last we have the root cause.
I can confirm your findings on my Kubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Title:
update-notifier / ttf
It seems that the resync doesn't happen anymore when I reboot my 16.04
system. Maybe a recent update (last 2 weeks) fixed it. Does anybody else
still have the problem?
Also the mdadm-waitidle has the symlinks in /etc/rc0.d and /etc/rc6.d by
default - I didn't install them myself. Maybe the update
I also had the exact same problem with Ubuntu 15.10 and Windows 10 dual-
boot setup and now that I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS it is still there
unfortunately. Mdadm or the intel tool in windows will always try to
resync the array on each reboot.

I had the same symptoms and thought it was the plasma-nm package but
realized that I already have the wily-updates fix that this report is
all about.
Luckily I read the above (#80 - #83) and just selected in System
Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Desktop Session tab -> On Login
section -> Star
This keeps happening for me on 15.04 (upgrade from 14.10) and on 15.10
(clean install).
When it happened while searching for an answer (firefox still works even
though plasma is crashed and black) I run the above (#24) three commands
and plasma was restored and worked fine. I only had to close the
Hi David, thanx for replying. You are doing great work on LightDM KDE
Greeter, thank you!
After some testing with various backgrounds it seems that the delay is
always specific to each background image and I was unlucky enough to
select the worst of them which is the one with the wafer/processors
I managed to reduce and almost eliminate the delay by removing the
background image. Now the lightdm logfile reports a 3 second delay which
I believe is acceptable. Maybe this bug has to do with the deallocation
of the memory it allocated for the background image?
I also reproduced this behavior t
I can't select another session as KDE Plasma is the only one listed
below the Username/Password textboxes.
I have also tried without success:
1) Both included themes (Classic & User Bar)
2) Login from a console (tty1) before I login in the LightDM
3) Login from a console, kill and then restart th

Public bug reported:
I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 12.10 on my workstation.
After I input my password and press enter instead of instantly loading
the desktop, I must wait almost half a minute before the KDE icons
appear and then the desktop loads normally. Log-in used to take just 2-3
