I think FGLRX and/or Pulseaudio caused this problem. After disabling
those two things all my problems went away.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 x64.
I was just minding my own business browsing in FF3 and it crashed. After
tha,t programs became unresponsive and I was unable to open any more
programs. To stop this, a hard reboot was required.

I have no SCSI HDD. But last time I checked after installing some
updates the SCSI drive icon is gone and there was nothing there. But the

I also have this problem with a clean gutsy install. I'm using a wired
connection and it takes 20+ seconds to load a new page. This is the only
problem that is keeping me from moving fully to ubuntu. Feisty worked
fine though.
I hope this gets fixed sometime soon.
