A downgrade to an earlier version of the package fixes the problem, so
it indeed seems to be a problem in the new package.

It appears that "ldconfig" is the program that crashes during the run of
the post-installation script. I tried running "ldconfig" and
"ldconfig.real" manually, and they crash too. Unfortunately, I do not
have the time to debug this for you.
