I Actually resolved this.
Seemes that an old installation had blacklisted nvidia-updates module from
loading.
After removing the blacklist from /etc/modprobe.d the nvidia driver
started working again.
The installer of the package should check if there exists an blacklist
of the module when ins

Trying to get nvidia drivers to system.
1. activating nvidia-current-updates from additional drivers.
2. Reboot -> error on startup. Failed to load module nvidia.
3. Remove nvidia-current-updates
4. Restart and everything starts up ok.
