It has been happening to me for approx 1 month.
This ALWAYS AND ONLY happens to me when I CLOSE A BROWSER TAB , 99% of the time
it's google chromium, and once or twice for firefox.
x86_64, intel graphics, ivy bridge, samsung laptop, wifi, pulse, and that silly
"rtkit" realtime daemon.

I don't run pulse, and it's not fglrx (I have nvidia)
This timing workaround has also cropped up for me.
Don't know for how long, but i'm on 2.6.27-5-generic 64-bit, with a Core Duo
p8400 (ich9)
Could this be related to the "CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns to 15000 nsec"
(and on and on) issue?
Indeed snmpd is the problem. This doesn't happen on our hardware
servers, and evidence on the Web indicates the same: it's a VMware
issue.

We get them with ESX 3.5 on all Linux VMs.
I'll try turning off snmpd and rebooting, see what happens.
