I tested this and confirmed if it thinks its a text type file it will
open it in writer. It is an important feature of a spreadsheet to
occasionally call in a text file to convert it to a spreadsheet use.

I tested this and it works just like all the Microsoft products. I
generally preview on Excel and change to the best orientation, (This is
often landscape). Clicking the properties button and clicking the
landscape button does the trick though.

Hi,
Hope your having a good day. Screen shots are a difficult way to capture
information for papers.
Some questions to help resolve this problem inclde:
1. What version of Ubuntu are you using?
2. What version of LibreOffice are you using?
I couldnot recreate this problem on Ubuntu 12.04.
