- I started I recovery mode
- The system asked me me to choose a startup mode
- I choose the root terminal
- I switched to my user
- I typed startx
It worked.
I don't know if the test I made answers to your question. Anyway I was
confident that this would work because everything
Actually, it wasn't fixed at all.
This morning it worked once, but this evening when I came back home and
powered up the computer, the low graphic mode message was back.

Yesterday I saw that there was a xserver update. I installed it then I
switched back to KDM. It seems it works fine now.

My configuration:
- Kubuntu Karmic
- KDM, KDE
- NVidia driviers (proprietary)
Since an update that I made a couple of weeks ago, the system has not been able
to startup properly:
- Rarely: everything is fine and KDE is started
- Often: I get a "low
I don't know if it makes any difference but I have not chosen Chinese as
main language. I have installed Kubuntu in French then I have activated
the Chinese support with the language support tool in the application
menu.

If I enable scim, I can't type accented voyels: same bug as

If I disable the Scim input (I mean deleting the input config and
restarting X) I can type them.
