The bug is fixed if I change the video output method. Maybe VLC should
just set that as the default, or maybe detect on the fly rather than
just crash.

VLC Crashes X when playing an FLV file

Also Banshee crashes when playing the FLV file (it actually plays it,
but as soon as I minimize the player or try to bring another application
to focus, it crashes X!!). mp3 files are played properly though both by
vlc as well as banshee.
