I have this issue as well, disabling, enabling and restarting rhythmbox
did not solve the issue.

More to add.. When going through the "fixing hotkeys" guide.
I ran: sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event5
I then proceeded to hit all the fn keys and its respective hotkeys, F1
F2 F3 ... etc. When I got to the brightness keys (F7, and F8) neither
were recognized. It seems there is an issue with t
