If we are going to have a photo lens there needs to be at least
rudamentary raw file support. gnome thumbnailer just takes the embedded
jpeg preview and displays that. something similar should be done.

appears that the radeon driver is the offending party because after the
issue of the FGLRX 12.9 driver everything seems to work ok again. even
on kernel version 3.5. thank you amd driver team.

I was very excited to try out the new beta but couldn't get it to boot
without the nomodeset option. This problem also comes up If I upgrade
the kernel to 3.4 or 3.5 in 12.4. I think it might be a problem with
some trinity chips. I have tried using the discrete gpu (7490) disa
