Alright, that's exactly what I mean. If that were a typical gnome app
the "music" and "all albums" items would be highlighted grey, not brown;
also, "Foo Fighters" would be highlighted brown but the artists pane
wouldn't have a thicker border to indicate that it's the active pane.

It seems that in newer versions, software-store automatically switches
to "in progress" when you install something. The problem is, after
finishing the process it does not return to the previous screen, so the
whole window shows no contents
You're totally right Matt, I will try to do that in the future.
Anyway in response to your comment in the forum, I was observing other
gnome apps today and I noticed a lot of them use this method:
-Transmission
-Tomboy
-Banshee
-Empathy
-Totem
-Gedit
-F-spot
-Klavaro
-Baobab
The list goes on...
Can the menubar's bottom border actually be removed? Could someone post
a screenshot to see the effect?

I hadn't noticed you couldn't place a real button in that area. As an
alternative solution, would it be possible to have just the arrow button
there, instead of placing it inside a hardcoded graphic? Maybe give it a
mouseover highlight effect so you know it can be clicked?

I never found Nautilus' path bar confusing, quite the opposite. But oh
well, I guess you guys know better.
