It mostly works fine. There's an intermittent bug where certain pdf
files can't be opened, the dialog only offers to save them, but I
don't know how to reproduce it. So close it.

page, of editing /etc/modprobe.d/options and adding "options processor
max_cstate=3", then running update-initramfs, does not work: the
max_cstate is set to 8 as normal.

Using this, the earlier attachment now prints ok. The original bug is
partly fixed; huge files still get created in /var/spool/cups, but
they are manageably large (at least the test case I just tried).

The new pdftops fixes the printing on one side problem. But the other
problem is still there: printing beyond page 8 of the earlier

It turns out that some documents create huge files in
/var/spool/cups/tmp. E.g. 1G and above, over a period of about 1/2 an
hour. Eventually, I run out of disk space. Attaching my
/var/log/cups/error_log with debugging turned on. Job 339 is the ugly
one.

1. The workaround before doesn't work. Sorry, my mistake with an
intermittent bug.
2. Bug is still present in Jaunty with 2.6.28 kernel.

The attached pdf (created with Lyx) silently fails to print via evince.
It prints fine from the command line with "lpr".
Running intrepid with evince 2.24.1, poppler version 0.8.7 (cairo).

It does what it says, but it's still suboptimal. The choice is between
having one wall per monitor, which looks strange, and having a single
big wall with the monitors cutting the workspaces. It would be ideal
to have just one wall, but not to split workspaces over screens. But I

No. There's an intermittent bug whereby I can't open *any* documents
from within firefox - I get an error message saying that the "helper
application doesn't exist" - but that's something different, I think.

As of today most documents are not printing on my machine. No error message is
given. An example of a pdf that doesn't print is included.
My version of cupsys: 1.3.9-2ubuntu5; my release: Intrepid.

Unless the software changed between our bug reports, maybe better to
keep the report open and find out when this bug happens? E.g. is there
a way to force a rebuild of the Tracker database as per Vianney's
suggestion?
