I've upgraded to the 2.6.20-14 kernel, and there is no change in the
symptom.: I still do not get a grub menu from a cold start, but do if I
do a restart from within Feisty
Should I include new versions of the files above?

David

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core
You've probably had this from all directions, but I don't see it logged
here. Yesterday's update (xserver-xorg-core_1%3a1.0.2-0ubuntu10.3_i386)
broke my X-server, along with those of others.
I got bored with it - since I also had a couple of other problems that
didn't appear to be addressed - and re-installed. All OK now.
Dunno whether this is common, but I've found Dapper rather more unstable
than Breezy was: or perhaps I'm just expecting more from it.

Public bug reported:
My Inspiron 9300 laptop, which has been running Dapper for several
months, has suddenly (don't know exactly when) lost sound - any sound.
Alternate windoze boot has sound ok, so probably not hardware. Only

Now things have progressed to the system not shutting down: it simply
hangs somewhere in the shutdown process, and I'm forced to power it off.
Presumably because of the above console font problem, I see nothing on
the screen.
Would really appreciate a hint as to how to solve this problem.
Thanks
