I used dconf editor to change the button layout. I still had to adjust
the gnome override for csd windows as well. I didn't see the button
style one, I had changed that in budgie settings. I guess the simpler

hide settings I want to change, or artificially restrict my options.

I understand I'm not programmer, but I seem to recall an earlier version
on tweak showing just a blank box for that setting when I set a custom
value. Now it still shows left or right. So it seems it used to have a
way to handle custom keys.

Yup that's what I did. Changed that back to one and my test window
popped up! i noticed something else while testing that, don't know if
its related. I've noticed that if you have the same window open on
different desktops the launcher spread can't see the ones on other
desktops.

before whatever deadline that made impossible to change default
behaviour. But instead, they dicided to hack compiz to shit to bend it

Yeas I have menuporxy set in my xsession.d folder. I had removed
indicator-appmenu before, but I put it back because that breaks HUD.
Though HUD only seems to want to show me options from the indicators.
I'm starting to suspect that menuproxy setting is causing that as well.

It would appear any shortcut involving alt can cause this. I just got
with print screen while I was taking a screenshot of a window. The
super key does it too. Pulls up the shortcut overview or unhides the
launcher or opens the dash or brings up the launcher numbers. or any
