The system crashed just now and I was able to capture the crash logs and upload.
I see the request for me to run 12.04 on this machine. Is it sufficient for me

Having now upgraded to 14.04, the problem is still present. In fact, it
seems to be worse. Now, when the screen "goes mad" then I am left with
whichever window was last in use (normally maximised) and can't do
anything else. All menus are unavailable and I can't even open the
terminal via CTRL+ALT+
Thanks to all the feedback. I followed the instructions for reverting to
official Xorg packages and the upgrade completed successfully.
