I can confirm this bug using a SMB share. Amarok for me works fine with SMB shares however which uses xine to play media however it seems it used to have problems as well as other xine based apps, ie Kaffine etc. This appears to be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xine-lib
