In that case, it's probable that the choppy sound and the problem of not
starting up properly are entirely unrelated and just happened to
manifest for me at the same time. XD

However, in my searching I discovered something that I think was the
main cause behind my stuttering. Before I updated jaunty, I didn't have
the ath5k driver, and I've been using ethernet to connect to networks. I

installer tries to detect my hard drive too. It all worked fine with
hardy.

When I boot up on the 2.6.27-2 server kernel (Intrepid), my hard drive
is not detected. It works fine with the 2.6.24-16 server kernel.
