Well, I am, obviously. I love Ubuntu but have learned that it is never a
bad idea to wait a while to upgrade since I have about a 50% success
rate on upgrades and this is my work machine. I can't afford any snafus.

I tried the rtsp url's and get this error:
No supported stream was found. You might be missing the right GStreamer
RTSP extension plugin.
I installed anything that referred to RTSP when i first got the error
and retried. Same error.

I undid the short circuit, installed the cups upgrade and could print nothing
either as a PDF or from OpenOffice. I upgraded all of the cups packages that
the Intrepid-proposed repository had available and tried again-just blank
pages. I reapplied the short circuit and I have printing again.

cups libraries or packages? It seems as if many others would be removed in any

I downloaded and built the latest gnash and have the white background.
Previously with the binary version from the Intrepid repository I got
the spinning loading thing.

Sorry about the short description in my first post!
When I try to import from my camera using F-Spot I get an error about not being
able to lock the device. I unmount the camera and try again and I get an "error
writing to port". Here's the terminal output:

Hello till. I was unavailable for a few days but I have run the tests
and the test files are attached.
"Sorry, I have given you the wrong cupsfilter command lines, so do
exactly the following:
Undo the short circuit for the following test doing
sudo mv /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf.orig /usr/li
I will do that but I have a question. Do I need to re-do the short circuit to
print again?
Here's what happened with the tests:
None of the error_log.txt contain anything.
The output.pdf and output3.pd fwill not open at all with any viewer.

I have just tried printing for the first time since updating to Intrepid.

Latest Intrepid updates
I get a few lines when trying to print a PDF but no text.
I ran the troubleshooting and here's the output attached.
I'll try the pdftopdf short circuit workaround and see if that help
I upgraded my other PowerBook G3 to Intrepid and after tweaking a bit to
be able to run a Gnome Desktop (a bug in libpixman.so specific to
PowerPC) and the Totem plugins work great! the BBC plugin is nice too.
Also can watch the BBC videos embeeded in firefox, gnash plays
everything, so far. Intrep
those updates scare me as I usually spend days trying to get a stable
set up back up and running.

I solved this with the help of my local users group, NMGLUG. I'm posting the
solution as it was written to me. I knew that dpkg was choking on
python-central but didn't

I can't see anything relavent to chroot though:
sudo dpkg --configure -a

At last a living response! No help though but at least a response.

It seems then that it should not be that difficult to modify the sources.list
or download and install the actual missing package.
